What!? No More Butterflies in America?

Wednesday, July 13, 2011

First honeybees, and now this! Apparently, preliminary research has shown that the use of genetically modified crops is reducing the monarch butterfly population in America. These modified crops have been genetically altered to be resistant to herbicides that are agriculturally used to prevent weeds from growing in crops. While this seems great at first glance, milkweed is the primary food source of the monarch caterpillar. With both habitat and food loss, we could very well see far fewer butterflies floating around in the coming years.

And I speak on behalf of all gays of this country when I say that I demand we do all we can to keep these adorable little guys around. Because once all the butterflies are gone, what's left? Roaches? Fuck that noise.
